Just take a sick day? As a self-employed tattoo artist or piercer, you’re not really allowed to do that: you have to do it yourself all the time. And if you’re already so unwell, you certainly don’t want to have to call all your customers, cancel appointments, find and make alternative appointments.
An Insta post is not a real alternative for this, as far too many people wouldn’t see it and would still stand in front of a closed door, rightly annoyed.
I’m glad that this problem has been solved for us. I quickly put a blog post on our website (“Sorry, our Tara is unfortunately ill”) with all the information about how long she will be absent, that we are terribly sorry and also offer a button that those affected can use to book a replacement appointment directly. Then, with just a few clicks, I send a corresponding circular (email or SMS) with a link to the blog post to the customers concerned:
“Hello <First name>Your appointment on <Date> with <Artist> unfortunately has to be canceled, she is ill. You can find everything else about your alternative date here: …”.
The placeholders are automatically replaced by the customer and appointment data:
“Hello Tom, unfortunately your appointment with Tara on 4.10.2021 has to be canceled, she is ill. You can find everything else about your alternative date here: …”.
Everyone is informed, no one is left hanging and you have peace of mind.
